Join Our Google Group and Ways to Participate

If you're developing Mach-II applications and not a member of the Mach-II Google Group, you need to become a member now!  I was surprised by how many Mach-II developers I met at this year's CFUnited that are not a member of the group.  Admittedly, it is the best place to get information and share your knowledge with other Mach-II developers. It's relatively low traffic with an average of 11 emails per day from our 300+ membership and it's the best place to hear from Team Mach-II who frequent the list on a daily basis.

One of the reasons that I repeatedly heard at the CFUnited was that some people do not want to receive all the email messages.  However, Google (being the smart people they are) lets you set your delivery options.  These are the options available when you sign up or edit your membership:

How do you want to read this group?

  • No Email - I will read this group on the web
  • Abridged Email (No more than 1 email per day) - Get a summary of new activity each day
  • Digest Email (Approximately 1 email per day) - Get up to 25 full new messages bundled into a single email
  • Email (Approximately 11 emails per day) - Send each message to me as it arrives

As you can see, you can select the option to receive no emails, but still post a message via the web interface (reading the archive is public and no membership is required).  Even better is to subscribe to the abridged or digest emails.  Don't want to receive abridged emails, but want to receive alerts on keywords that pique your interest? I use Google Alerts to monitor search terms on that interest me. I was not surprised to find an option on Google Alerts to just monitor Google Groups instead of the comprehensive (which is news, blogs and groups).

What if you do not like receiving email at all?  Use our RSS or Atom feeds in your favorite reader to monitor the Mach-II Google Group.

As you can see, I've illustrated that there is no reason not to be apart of the Mach-II community.  And as always, you an join our Google Group on any non-blog page of our website or join by visiting the group directly.
